Lee for CFO? Maybe. But nothing new on LG front

Sen. Tom Lee, R-Brandon, unsuccessfully ran in 2006 for state chief financial officer, losing to Democrat Alex Sink. But with current CFO Jeff Atwater now a candidate to become president of Florida Atlantic University, Lee might be open to pursuing the Cabinet seat again.

“I’ve been getting phone calls from Friday night from people asking me to consider” running for CFO, Lee told The Tampa Tribune. “I haven’t really spent much time at this point thinking about that. I’ll be in Tallahassee this week, and I’ll have a chance to think about that and how it would affect my life and my family’s life.”

Lee also has been considered by Gov. Rick Scott as a possible candidate to fill the state’s long-vacant lieutenant governor’s job. The Tribune reported there has been speculation that Scott would name Lee as lieutenant governor during an appearance Wednesday in Brandon. But Lee told the newspaper that the speculation is wrong.
