Federal lobbying declined last year
Overall spending on federal lobbying declined last year for just the third time in the last 15 years the Center for Responsive Politics’ Open Secrets Blog reported this week. Lobbying spending still was more than $3.27 billion, the fifth highest spending year on record. But that put it at its lowest point since 2007, the center reported. More than 12,300 lobbyists worked on Capitol Hill in Washington last year.
