Lisa Greer ‘shocked’ at Johnson turn
Former Republican Party boss Jim Greer’s wife expressed a sense of betrayal by former party executive director Delmar Johnson in a short voice mail message that is part of the case against Greer. The voice mail, among several documents and recordings released Thursday as part of the discovery in the criminal case, was recorded March 31, and was left on Johnson’s phone by Lisa Greer. Jim Greer is facing felony counts of theft and in connection with his role in running Victory Strategies, a consulting firm that raised money for the party while he was chairman. Prosecutors say it was essentially a shell company used to siphon money. Johnson was a partner in the company, and cooperated with investigators to get a deferred prosecution agreement. In that role of cooperating, Johnson apparently went to Greer’s home. “I mean I thought you came here because you were a friend, and I’m shocked,” Lisa Greer says on the 34 second voice mail. “Because the only way they would have gotten the information is from you…I can’t believe you came into my home – you’re the godfather to my child – and acted like everything was fine.” Greer has maintained his innocence and is fighting the charges.
