Koon: how Wal-Mart is like society at large
In a sign of what is expected to come, Gov.-elect Rick Scott turned to the private sector Tuesday in naming Bryan Koon – currently head of emergency preparedness for the world's largest company, Wal-Mart – to head up the Division of Emergency Management in Florida. How might the two jobs compare? Koon argues that responding to disasters – figuring out how to keep supply moving and how to make sure employees are taken care of – is similar to what a government official might do for the public at large in the event of a catastrophe.
